Fun-N-Learning: 30 Years of Caring for Stanly County Families
For three decades, Fun-N-Learning has been a trusted partner for families in Locust and Stanly County. Established in 1995 by Douglas and Carolyn Crayton, the facility is now led by their daughter, Crystal C. Wages, who has dedicated herself to providing exceptional early childhood education.
Crystal began her journey at Fun-N-Learning in 1998, transitioning to full-time employment and ultimately becoming the facility’s director in 2012. She attributes the center’s success to a dedicated team and supportive parents.
“Our primary focus is to keep the children safe and make them feel loved while giving them an opportunity to explore,” Crystal explains.
Fun-N-Learning offers high-quality care with a developmentally appropriate curriculum, utilizing the state-approved Creative Curriculum. This allows teachers to tailor lessons to meet individual needs and encourage a love of learning through hands-on activities and play.
The facility’s Locust location, renovated in 2008, now boasts 4,500 square feet, including two additional classrooms, a spacious foyer, a dedicated teacher’s area, and an indoor playroom. Open weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Fun-N-Learning serves children aged 2 to 13.
All staff members hold degrees in Early Childhood Education or are pursuing their degrees.
“We’re committed to creating nurturing environments where children thrive,” Wages adds. “We believe in ‘teachable moments’ – making learning fun and engaging to spark curiosity.”
“It’s hard to find people who will love your children like their own, and I feel like the staff at Fun-N-Learning truly loves them as much as I do,” said parent Laura Shadron. “This alleviates any stress and enables me to go to work without worrying about them because I know they’re safe and secure in a nurturing environment.”.
Fun-N-Learning has space available for new enrollees. For more information, contact the facility at (704) 888-5683. “We’re excited to support the development of the next generation within our community,” Wages concludes.
